Our customer requires a metering and mixing machine, which is easily adjustable and flexible for potting different types of transformers with two-part Polyurethane.
The customer, a UK-based company, manufactures different types of current and voltage transformers, which fulfil British, European and International standards. Potting of the transformers with two-component Polyurethane is key to the entire production process.
For this application, the company required a metering and mixing machine, which was able to dispense different shot sizes and flow rates and which has a sufficiently high flow rate for large transformers. The customer also wanted to have a portable, easy to handle machine, which can be moved around whenever they need to reorganise the factory layout for processing large orders and where floor space is limited. The requirement was also to automatically transfer the resins directly from 200lt supply drums into the machine mounted vacuum reservoirs.
METER MIX configured a special version of the LiquidFlow 40, a metering and mixing machine with gear pump technology, ideal for medium flow applications. Both the machine and bulk materials were placed on the same framework with castors for mobility. A swivelling boom assembly also supports the mixer valve, which means less weight for the operator to handle during the potting process. Furthermore, the machine can be easily adjusted to dispense different shot sizes and flow rates required for different sized transformers. Material vacuum degassing was also incorporated into the machine.
The customer now benefits from a high degree of flexibility – the machine can be easily moved around the production environment and the operator is able to switch easily to a different shot size and flow rate whenever the components change.
