Our customer, a global leader in power distribution, manufactures automatic transformers that power remote pipeline and oil industry operations in harsh desert environments. In the production process, the transformers are bonded with a two-component silicone adhesive.
Requirements
Each transformer consists of two equal-sized sections – an upper and a lower half. To ensure durability and protection against these extreme environmental conditions, the two sections must be securely sealed. Other components also need to be bonded and sealed. The customer is struggling with problems because in the current process sealant dispensing along the four rectangular sides is not consistent, leading to poor sealing quality.
Essential requirements for sealing with silicone adhesive
- Apply a uniform bead of two-part silicone adhesive along the open rectangular edge of one section and on other components
- Ensure consistent sealing quality
- Support medium shot dispensing of high-viscosity material
