Our customer, a global leader in power distribution, manufactures automatic transformers that power remote pipeline and oil industry operations in harsh desert environments. In the production process, the transformers are bonded with a two-component silicone adhesive.
Requirements
Each transformer consists of two equal-sized sections – an upper and a lower half. To ensure durability and protection against these extreme environmental conditions, the two sections must be securely sealed. Other components also need to be bonded and sealed. The customer is struggling with problems because in the current process sealant dispensing along the four rectangular sides is not consistent, leading to poor sealing quality.
Essential requirements for sealing with silicone adhesive

Our solution
To meet the application demands, we provided our customer the PasteShot 20C metering and mixing machine. It is ideal for handling shot sizes from 5 to 120 ml of high-viscosity material such as the two-part silicone adhesive in use. The machine ensures consistent metering and mixing, as well as a reliable bead dispensing. To automate the process, we integrated a 6-axis Cobot, enabling precise rectangular dispensing motion along the open face of the transformer section. With this new solution, our customer is able to produce transformers to a very high standard with reproducible quality, ensuring that the electronic components are protected against heat, dust and dirt.
